This village, lying in an area of almost flat arable land, still has many wooden cottages. On the south side of the village, between it and the Swinka river, is an area of meadowland. Few cows are kept on the meadows now, as it is becoming uneconomic for a farm to have only 1 or 2 cows. Puchaczow had town rights between 1527 and 1869, and it still has the street plan and some of the public buildings of a town. The church is late baroque (1786) Many local families, as in nearby Stara Wies, are linked to the Grzesiuks. This family came from the Ukraine, via the city of Chelm. The family is divided into the 'village Grzesiuk' and the 'forest Grzesiuk' For more information about this family, contact me at the e-mail address at the bottom of the page. This is confusing as their is another Stara Wies a few kilometres away, near Leczna. This is a small village, on the southern side of the Swinka (little pig), just opposite Puchaczow. The land is almost flat and is mainly used for agricultural purposes, such as tomatoes and apples, the tomatoes are mainly sold to a local factory in Milejow. There are meadows between the village and the Swinka river, some of which is paddocks for keeping the few remaining horses. The local church is the one in Puchaczow. More information about this village can be obtained by mailing me as we have relatives living here.
